How to Use the A1C Now Self Check

Watch the video above for detailed information on how to use your A1C Now Self Check meter

WHAT IS AN A1C TEST?

A1C is a simple blood test that measures average blood glucose over the past 2-3 months. When sugar enters your bloodstream, it attaches to the hemoglobin, a protein in your red blood cells. The A1C test measures the percentage of red blood cells that have a sugar-coated hemoglobin. Red blood cells live about 3 months on average, so A1C percentage is directly associated with an estimated average glucose over the last 3 months.

WHY IS A1C IMPORTANT?

A1C plays a big role in managing chronic disease. It is used to diagnose and pre-diabetes.

WHAT DO THE RESULTS MEAN?

A1C test result targets vary by age, diabetes diagnosis, and other risk factors. In general, the CDC interprets an A1C level as Normal: 5.6% and below Pre-diabetic: 5.7% to 6.4% Diabetic: 6.5% and above

HOW ACCURATE ARE THE RESULTS?

The A1C Now Test Results are 99% correlated to both fingersticks and venous blood draws.
